Please help with Aerofly Pro install...

Hi All
I just purchased aerofly pro, and am planning on using my JR 10X radio, I purchased the 9 to 25 pin adapter at radio shack and the Aerofly or my computer will not detect my radio.
I have a hp 1.8 gig computer, and running windows xp, is anyone else having this problem?

Frustrated

Bill

make sure that the interface adapter that comes with aerofly pro is plugged into a com port on the computer.

there should be a connector on the back of the computer that the interface will plug into. without this interface the sim will not run. the interface is no doubt part of the copy protection.

I´ve found in my XP machine that R/C Radio should not be connected before Aerofly search and find the Adapter Cable supplied. I use a Hitec Prism 7X in my PIII computer with Windows XP installed.

What I do is to run the software first, wait until it detects the adapter and then I plug the radio and turn it on.

Good Luck.

CORRECT!!

Even if you are not using the interface cable, it must be plugged directly (no adaptor) into the comport. And again, if it is not being used, just leave it hangin' there. The interface has a chip in it that the software requires to operate and at the same time, as flashingred mentioned, serves as a copy protector.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I got AeroFly last night and am haveing the same problem...

Disk installed and the Interface cable plugged into the only plug it fits into on the back of the tower. I hook my X-378 to it the program runs id's the cable but I cannot calibraite the radio nor affect the plane in the fly mode.

Any ideas? We played with the thing at the LHS...worked fine.

Any advice would be great.:(

Did you figure out the problem? I had the same problem with my install. Guess what. The plane I had selected on my JR 8103 was set for PCM. Once I read the manual and changed to PPM mode it worked fine.

hmmm

Thanks for the idea...not sure if my x378 has pcm but I'll look tonight.

thanks

Also, be sure that you've selected "AIRCRAFT 1" for your RC TX.

regarding your JR radio. it is not true that you will damage your radio when using it with aerofly professional. and also you do not have to switch on your JR radio when using it with aerofly professional. simply plug in the cable and the radio will turn on automatically. just make sure its set to PPM mode. some older pro cable didn't have the correct wiring for the JR X378 radio. you would have to do a slight modification to the cable for it to work. the newer ones should already be fixed.

look at the picture in this posting:

I still cannot get the sim to recognize the controller...it knows the cable is there but I cannot calibrate the sticks...I tried an older Piccofly the other day and had the same problem....is there something I need to do to the commport? driving me nuts!!!

Johnnylightning 04-15-2003 06:48 PM

Hmmmm...

...thinking...

To recap....I use aircraft one on PCM...cable hooked up, x378 radio...now when I used the old Picco flight I used a quattro radio I had instrad of my better radio and it did not work either.

I have an open plug where it fits into...sucks cause we had it going at the LHS with my radio...so I figure its in the puter.
Looks like the same old crash to learn...deal this spring. Hate to buy another computer...was saving money for the first Iron Bay Christian Eagle to roll off the line this summer

I appreciate the help everyone has been offering.

Bill did you get your to work?

Did you say aircraft one on PCM? If that is true you need to change the settings on your radio. Aircraft one needs to be configured as PPM.

I have a spmm? I know I tried both but I will recheck...I printed the thread and took all the ideas home and tried each individually.

Parocket,

The modulations available in the JR 8103 are:

PPM
SPCM
ZPCM

In order for your transmitter to work with Aerofly, what ever airplane you select must have the modulation set to PPM.

This is true for any transmitter brand or model.

Johnnylightning 04-17-2003 08:06 PM

Well Parocket,

did you get it to work? Check the callibration menu. Select R/C instead of Joystick. If the red "limit" bars are moving when you callibrate, then it means that the program is reading your TX/controller. It's a place to start.

Johnnylightning 04-17-2003 08:09 PM

Another point...

...your TX battery MUST be charged. It's a JR thing.

Even, my Futaba 9C has to be charged to run the aerofly pro. It's normal. Just ensure that the RF circuit is disabled when it is plugged in. This happens automatically in the 9C but I still pull out the RF module for additional safety..........
