Default Fox 29 fuel

I have an older but almost new FOX 29 RC engine. The manual lists missile mist fuel. What is that? I remember using something like K&B 1000 years ago in the 70's in cox 0.049 engines is Missile Mist like that. It was around 25% nitro and about 25& castor oil. Is missile mist the same??

Thanks.

For all intents and purposes, yes it’s the same. Not identical, but it still suit the engine just fine.

T,
As Q said the K&B 1000 was higher nitro but lower oil than what the Fox plain bear engines run best with. missile mist was a high nitro Fox fuel that gave more power but also had lower oil. If the engine is plain bearing I would recommend at least 26 - 28% total oil, could be 50/50 castor/syn, This is available from Brodak.com as 10 - 15% nitro which should give that Fox 29 plenty of power and long life. Remember to break it in slowly, rich needle setting for about 30 min in short 10 min runs, On the second and third tank pinch the fuel line several time to lean it out for 30 sec or so, then let it cool back down in the rich 4 cycle. When you put it in the air for the first few flights keep it on the rich side and it should be fully broken in after another 30 mins of run time. Run a 9x6 prop should be fine.

Best, DennisT
