Where abouts do i get methanol from because when i went to the paint shop, boat shop they told me to go to the chemist and see if they sell it because its a chemical that cant be sold over the counter. when we went there they said that methanol was illegal to sell in brisbane. i live in Australia in Qld and i dont know where abouts to buy it from.

also i was wondering with the fuel optimax that is sold at BP that has octane of 90%+ i was wondering if that would work in a petrol/gas car.

Also about the castor oil(castrol R30) would it mix with methonal or is it even good enough for the engine.

You should be able to get methanol at Shell, BP or Caltex fuel depots or even speed or gokart shops. Castrol R is no good, you need Castrol M.

do you use castrol M, does it mix well with methanol and how much p/litre?

Yep...I've used Castrol M exclusively for the last 45 years or so and it mixes perfectly but needs a good shake at first. After that it never settles out. I get it in the 5 litre container from my local Caltex depot (where I get methanol in bulk too) and from memory it was about $12/litre. I've even ordered in the Castrol M through a local auto parts shop who stocked the normal Castrol oils for cars.

my friend just found out that $30 for 20 ltrs of methanol and $23 p/ltr for nitro and $55 for 5 ltrs castor oil
