Hey Sparky, listen to cyberwolf, I've been using Amsoil for 20 years, 15 in a G62. If yo want optimum performance out of your G62 use 87 octane and a Mejlik 22X10

I need help along this line. I have a G-45
& a Homelite 25 conversion. I have not flown
either in about two years. I was told then to
run at least 1 gallon of petrol based oil mix
then switch to the Amsoil, which is synthetic.
Do I have this correct? If so, what brand of
the petrol based oil would you recommend?
I remember buying some oil at a cycle shop,
but of course, I can't find it now.
Also, you gave Sparky a recommendation
for a prop on the G-62. Which prop would you
suggest for the G-45. It's pulling a 23# P-51
around.
Thanks for any help!

Yes, start with any brand petroleum based oil at 25-1, then go to Amsoil at 64-1 (2oz's to the gallon) 18x10 or 20x8 would be the best choice prop

I have been using [link=http://www.opti2-4.com/opti-2.htm]Opti-2[/link] for many years and I will go so far as to say they are the best oil in existence... I recently took apart a chainsaw I'd been using the oil in since new (almost 7 years - poulan 42cc) to convert it... and there wasn't a scratch on the piston... smooth as glass! And NO carbon build up.

I swear by this stuff... I'm even going to start using the [link=http://www.opti2-4.com/opti-4.htm]Opti-4[/link] in my other engines..

Oh yeah... these engines are not high compression engines... so the best gas to use is just 87 octane... You will not gain anything from higher octanes..
