Default Differences between Car and Airplane Fuel

Guys,

We have a thread running in the car forum about the difference between car and airplane fuel.
Can some of you fuel gurus shed some light on this subject?

Is the difference the amounts of castor and synthetic in the fuels?
Other reasons?

Also it would be nice to see some manufacturers offer some information.

Thanks

Dbow

Default I saw it...

I saw the thread....

One thing to note is that someone created a hypothetical or made an assumption that airplane fuel was 15% oil...I believe that airplane fuel is 18%, in general.

I use the same fuel (Powermaster 20/20) in cars and planes, and never have had a problem.

Oh well....

Default Yes

Yeah I agree the airplane fuel is typically 18% oil.

I am not making arguement here as I am satisfied with my current fuel.

I did see mention of the half and half fuel, half synthetic and half castor.

What fuels are available in this ratio?
I have not seen this type fuel before on the shelf.

I am interested and trying a fuel with this combination, I feel it would be better suited for both applications being that it has more castor.

Sig fuels are 50/50 castor/syn mix and are 20% oil.

Not all airplane fuels are 18%.

Coolpower/Omega are 17%
Omega's pattern fuel is 20/20

Wildcat Fuel is 16% oil
Wilcat Premium Pro is 18% oil

Sig is 20% oil
etc..etc..

Thank you Dbow, I chose not to post in the other threads because of the heated opinions and was not aware of this forum until you mentioned it. I think this was a much more mature way to address and discuss this question. I'd like to hear more on the subject. I do spend a lot to buy the car fuel and I don't mind spending where its needed, but I also welcome safe cost cutting. Thanks to all who post helpful info.

we run rc car engines on higher nitro. I use 20% nitro for bashing and racers use 30 or 35% nitro. also the oil content ranges from 10-12% for racers (those engines dont last too long with such low oil) to about 14 - 16% oil for general bashing. I still sometimes add some Klotz castor to my car fuel, but not always. I run 14 or 16 % lube in .15 and .21 car engines...you notice performance and tuning decrease with oils above about 16 percent

I like HPI Power fuel and Traxxas Top Fuel

most rc car people dont have any idea what castor or synthetic oil is and if it is in their fuels

other than that it is pretty much the same.

I recently bought some coolpower 15% fuel to run in my newly totaled rc10 gt. I have seen Klotz mentioned on a couple other threads. This fuel is17% all synthetic oil. Would it make any sense to add some Klotz castor to it? I suppose I couldn't add more than 2-3%.Would it even be worth it?

Am I reading that my Omega airplane fuel would give me more longevity in my T-Maxx's than the blue car fuel?

Can I assume from this discussion that it would be both save me money and give me more engine life if I run my Omega 10% and 15% airplane fuel in my T-Maxx's?

Been surfin, but just hadn't stumbled on this one. It's kinda hidden in stuff that's out of my league. Interested in all rc but started with cars cause they cant go but so hi and therefore can't fall but so far. Sometimes I have trouble with knowing when to let off the throttle. bad bad bad bad bad
