Default Fuel/Nitro Mixing

Ok, sorry for the dumb and maybe obvious question, but if I mix 15% nitro fuel with 0% nitro fuel, I should get 7.5% correct? Is it not that obvious or am I assuming something, missing something.

I ask therefore I am....sorry couldn't resist. Anyway, I have s ST G-90 and apperantly it would run better on 5% nitro and since I have 4 gallons of Riches Brew Pylon 15%, I thought I'd get some 0% (heck do they even make 0%??) and mix the two.

Ok, enough Bob Blah Blah...thanks.

Yes, just make sure they both have a 'sum' of the correct percentage of oil (at least 18%).

0 nitro fuel is labeled as FAI

That is bad labeling. Most 0 nitro fuel is not FAI fuel even when so labeled.

Try this link: http://www.nitrorc.com/
scroll down to "custom fuel blending workshop and click on it.
scroll down to bottom of page and click on either button depending on what you want to do. This will send you to a page where you can list the amounts in your present fuel and the percentages you want to obtain and it will figure it out for you. To bad it's a car site, but the formula thing works.

Thanks, but I don't think that worked. Unless I'm missing something on the input fields, but they're pretty straight forward. Here are the results. Maybe I'll just get a gallon or two of the fuel I need.

According to the figures you just gave us, your current fuel has, 15% nitro content and 18% oil content, leaving 67% methanol.
You have indicated that you wish to increase your nitro content by -10% to a new total percentage of 5% and your oil by 2% to a new total of 20%
In order to accomplish this you will simply need to add -13.5 ounces of nitro and -0.2 ounces of castor/synthetic oil to your 128 ounces of fuel. (What the?)
When you're done, you should end up with 114.3 ounces (0.89 gallons) of newly blended, custom fuel.

That's correct if you mix them 50/50 and both have the same oil content. If they both have the same oil content and you mix them 3:1 then you'll have 5% nitro.

Sport_Pilot is correct that a lot of fuel manufacturers (Morgan for one) don't have a true FAI fuel, they just make whatever they like without any nitro and call it FAI. Bad practise and false advertising too.

But different oil contents shouldn't make an impact should it? Lets say 1/3 gallon of 15% Nitro at 18 % oil mixed with 2/3 gallon 5% Nitro with 20% oil. Should that yield ~8.3% N w/~19% oil?

What about the mix itself, just add to gallon and shake (what about bubbles) or use a clean paint stirrer....shouldn't suspend right?

Heck, am I making this WAY TO HARD?
