Here is what to do. Find an old crock pot. Put in a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze and water. Set crock pot to low heat. Leave parts in about 8 hours. Rinse parts with water and scrub with old toothbrush. They will look like new. Tim

Will putting the parts in a pot of Boiling water with Baking Soda
thrown in to do the cleaning work. Or will this destroy the parts?
Another question for any experts who have tried this or know it will not work. If this works it would be faster than 8 hours in the Anti-freeze-water mixture on low.

Aluminum will go nuts under a heated basic condition (eg. Baking soda) You stand the chance of turning the part black with a rough surface or creating white eroded spots on the part.
It is best to use antifreeze or some cleaner that is safe for aluminum.
Good luck,
Jim
