Has anyone else experienced this?
I bought [link=http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.4660/.f]this[/link] gas cap for my FG Marder last year, and now i was finally ready for putting it on. But it is too large! Inside diameter included the "tops" on the threads is 36 mm, in the "bottom" of the threads it is 40 mm, the lenght of the threaded part is 16 mm, totalt height is 30 mm and total outside diameter is 50 mm.
To comparision, the measurements on the stock gas cap is;
Inside diameter included the "tops" on the threads is 32 mm, in the "bottom" of the threads it is 36 mm, the lenght of the threaded part is 15 mm, totalt height is 20 mm and total outside diameter is 42 mm.
I really not get this why this don't fit, i am extremely sure i have the stock gas tank for my Marder, as with the gas cap. I have not seen any "clones" using this tank either, i have checked the Firehammer and similar cars but they use the tank with the cap that has threads on the outside, like they are screwed down flush with the tank, and not on the filler neck.
Have a look in [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7970048/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]the thread[/link] about the car -or tank- i am talking about.
And yes, i have been in contact with the shop i bought it from, and they have never heard anything like this with many caps being sold. I am just going to put it in my lathe and remove the threads and just use it as a cap on the stock cap to make it a bit shinier

I take this as my problem is as unique as i am! Anyway, finished my "conversion" today, i have made it to fit over the stock cap. But that was not the problem, that was just the challenge.
