Default On-road Racer

After reading more about engines i have decided to use a chainsaw engine and clutch. I will be building a custom chasis without suspension for. it will be an on road racer. I was wondering what wheels i should use and what material for the wheels. rubber or plastic?

It'd be easiest to use some 1/5th wheels like Ken said.
Otherwise look at small trolley wheels or scooter wheels from Razor scooters etc.

Keep this thread going now.
No need to start a new thread just cause you changed your mind.
A while back a guy came on here and started a new thread for every part he made for his car.

Maybe you should rethink your choice of power. Unless your gonna do some serious mods, a chainsaw engine wont turn the rpm to make your racer fast. Second, what makes you think that it doesn't need a suspension?

a chainsaw engine wont turn the rpm to make your racer fast.
How fast does it need to be?
A home made car is good enough as long as it moves at all.

Chainsaw motors have lots of torque and with the right gearing it will be fast enough.

Second, what makes you think that it doesn't need a suspension?
It's not crucial to have suspension.
I've built a couple of cars without suspension that worked just fine within the expectations of a home made car with no suspension.

People always slam homebuilds and say it will need this and that and it will be too heavy and it will be too slow and blah blah blah.
Nobody's trying to make something that will compete with a factory built and engineered RC car. (apart from Vassilis and a couple of others who are in a league of their own)

We're just having a bit of fun.
Putting some random pieces together and seeing how/if it works.
It doesn't have to do 100km/h and be able to jump 2 metres in the air.

Think outside the box and you'll see that the world is full of other shapes than square.

I understand what your saying...to a point. If i were to do a custom build, it would be for something that's not commercially available.

ok. I will be building this without suspension. im not expecting it to be super fast but i want a bit of speed. i will be using the john deere engine because the chainsaw engine is dead. it will not be a dragster. i did'nt say it didn't need suspension. i said i was not putting suspension on it. i dont have the right tools or the cash to add full suspension. i will probably use some sort of trolley wheels on it. I was planning on keeping the vehicle light weight anyway. This is basically to see if i can even build it. the next model will be all out with everything i want on it.

Yeh don't pay too much attention to the negative inputs.
You'll make it work, I'm sure of it.

Does the John Deere motor have a clutch?
