RE: formula offroad, Mkll twin build, pic heavy
bit of spare time today so got the steering servo mounted, cables all done, pipe mounts done
got some of the rear frame done, tank positioned and now working on the rear shock mounts
picked up some .025 galvanized sheet and aluminum sheet ready for some body work
tried the steering on 6v and turns the wheels on the bench no problem, bit slow but a 10000mah 2s 7.4v lipo will fix that, they peak at 8.4 so will be perfect for the tonegawa's power source

end is getting ever closer....shocks mounted, rear bracing finished. just have to finish the front bracing and weld on some body mount tabs then i can tear it down, brace the axles and start painting...need a regular servo for th...had several laying around but they're hiding pretty good right now so will have to pull one from something else to fab the mount

awaiting yet more steel to show up so tinkered with a bit of body work and grill. still have to trim the hood sides then will rivet on lower fenders and weld on upper part in steel off frame hangers, then i can hinge the hood for easy pullstart, choke access
i've a sheet of carbon for inner body panels zip tied on and bottom i'll weld on thin steel sheet.. side and rear quarters will be alu panels and back will be a seperate piece of slightly thicker gauge....same as grill...i'll cut out slots but paint on headlights...still undecided as to body paint scheme...it'll come to me once the frame is done

just about ready to strip this down...just body panels to finish and mounts to do, then tear it down finish welding it up, weld on the floor panels, sand and paint it.
need to fit a pulley to the steering servo horn so the wire is pulled thru a constant arc instead of linear...will give more constant travel, power and make it faster couple of loose ends on the lathe to do to the driveshafts, inner carbon fibre body panels to cut out and that's it chassis wise...have a couple of lipos on the way...the tonegawa is getting a 10000mah 7.4v...
did a test glue using CA gold on an old tire...the rubber will tear before the glue gives...so no worries now about the paddles holding up
i'll cut the door panel off the rear quarter once i get the shape right

wheelbase 25.5"...i think the track at the hubs is 21" so with tires it's total length is 33.5" width 26"...i'll put it next to my other rigs for size comparison next time i'm in the shed...picked up my pyrad at 37lbs and this feels about the same at the minute...got 700gr of batteries to go in and bit more body work and roof rails...if i have time tomorrow i'll run it down to weigh it properly

finished the body panels today...to be revealed when all painted, started on the front fenders, finished the driveshafts, and then tore it down, just a few more brackets for the body to do, bit more bracing, floor panels and final weld up then paint it

Outstanding and admirable job !
I love your project.
How will you tackle the cooling to both cyls? Scoop on the side to push air evenly to both jugs?

i'm planning on one hood scoop, with the obr heat sink and all aluminum panels i'm figuring they'll be enough heat transfer to the outside for cooling... not as important with this motor to keep airflow over the cylinders like a plane engine needs.
all green and it'll have to be called the booger[&:] or pick and flick...lol
haven't weighed it yet but the chassis is surprisingly light for it's size...i'll see if i can get it weighed today...i'm still aiming for 40lb but will be tight...the 10000mah lipo i bought for steering weighs 500gr by itself[]

nearly done with the gubbins, have to pick up some fuel line tomorrow, strap in tank and get it plumbed and it'll be ready to fire...then on to the body work...ended up going with 5b front shocks for now, less stress on the driveshaft angles and the springs were too hard with the rear shocks, sat at full extension....still have decent travel...more in scale now, and plenty of articulation
wonder how long those tires will last on asphalt
find out what it weighs on monday...some days it fells like 35lb others like today feels more like 50[&:]
