Urgent warning
Anyone paying for drinks in pubs with plastic
Be warned, if you pay useing one of the wireless card readers. Some of these units work useing bluetooth. A mobile phone set on bluetooth roam can recieve and read the data being transmited
I have seen this done. The apprentice found out by accident and prooved it to me.
Im not a phone geek and cant tell you anything about the handset used, but it was silver
Not knowing much about these things but, I cant imagine it being very hard for the details to be writen to a blank card.
I know this thread is not to do with rc, or if it affects people in other countries than the uk.
But can the mods please leave the thread here so it can be seen.
And anyone useing other forums please pass on my warning
You have been warned

RE: Urgent warning
You guys in the UK JUST got this warning about bluetooth technology? I believe what you are referring to is "BlueJacking" or "Bluejacked", as the jargon goes.

RE: Urgent warning
i suppose it is bluejacking but this could potentialy cause far worse problems than sitting on train laughing at people who cant understnd where the messages are comming from.
I would have thought the data being transfered will be encrypted though which would stop your avarage man on the street doing anything with it.

RE: Urgent warning
If there is a bandwidth being used to transfer bluetooth data, it WILL be cracked or tapped into. This technology is very similar to wireless technology. The worse thing of all is, if there are two people using bluetooth capable phones AND using a wireless headset, you can easily tap into the other person's conversation by adjusting the frequency in your wireless headset.
Bluetooth phones are just not worth it.....yet.
