Default What is BEST for gear replacement??

Hi

I need to replace the plastic gears on my Traveller.

Is replacing the pinion with steel and keeping the spur as plastic (the weak link) a good option?
Are there any options for changing the gear ratio through this rear set?

The shafts are fixed so the gears would have to be matched pairs to mesh properly. The pinion on the "lay" shaft seems to be the place to change gearing.

WHERE do you buy your replacement steel pinions?

Thanks Jeff

go with steel pinion, plastic spur, alloy spur gear carrier and www.fgperformance.com for the gears. Do this if you want the plastic spur gear too be your weak point. I chose to have my out drives to be the weak point.

Beware that FG Gears does NOT work on the Smartech Traveller/Carson Attack.

http://www.rc-car-online.de has steel pinion gears specifically made for the Traveller/Attack/Firehammer.
I don't know where in the US you can get those gears.
