RE: Marder Beetle (on-road)
Is it worth spending close to £1000 just for on-road version? How long would it take to convert your MB to on-road Beetle? - Obviously wheel + tyre change then possibly gears, wheel bolts, adjust ride height? Gear change & wheel change easy rest a bit more fiddly.
You could also get the Monster Slick tyres like ST.

RE: Marder Beetle (on-road)
What I wonder is whether or not it will flip over all of the time on asphalt or tarmac or whatever. I have an MB, but almost every time I drive it in parking lots I wind up flipping at least a few times and ruining my decals [:@] ...and that is with the much wider monster tires. I know that the center of gravity is higher on the Monster Beetle, but if I were going to buy an onroad car, I think I would like something with a little bit lower profile.
I could be completely wrong. I have never even driven one of the giant scale sedans and I do not know how well they handle.

you can mount the semi truck tires( or off road tires) they are the same, and you will have less lift then with the monster tires on the tarmac, I do recommend you gear up though it will seem painfully slow, but have incredibel accel, with the 50-15 combo we can pop onto the wheelie bar very easily. but top end is a bit slow.

RE: Marder Beetle (on-road)
Ive got/had one. my first fg was a on road beetle with some marder wheels to go with it. Yes its amazing around a carpark as long as its dry, the slicks cant really handle any dampness. Different handling to the MB. Its more precise with less throwing it into a corner and hoping it will be alright, you can drive it around a corner 90% knowing it will be alright.
The undertray is crap, the body mounts are crap and brcause of the undertray, getting to anything is a real pain. A quick conversion of a monster beetle would be a better way of doing it. My beetle is now a marder and my MB swaps between on and off road.
Hope this helps

kiora,
What did you have to change to convert your MB to on road?
The Beetle on-road looks a lot lower than my MB, will a wheel/tire change be enough?

My old Marder came with a homemade body shell made out of aluminium! Totally illegal but looked pretty cool. Made from this type of alu..

Chucked it away.

I changed wheels and tyres, gearing, I already had a shell with wheel arches, you dont need it but it looks better (second hand Ebay one?) stiffened the suspension i just used spacers on the springs, moved the shocks over to the other hole on the shock tower, not sure why it just seems better. thats about it.
Yes wheel tyre change will do it BUT the gearing will be high so it rev its nuts off and without wheel arches it wont have "that look"
see ya

RE: Marder Beetle (on-road)
if you look at the lower rear arms they have some upward angle
the off road has a little drop if not level
the diff protector under the cars sits anot 5 mm off the ground, when i drop my truck slicks on and wind the ride adjustes in it don't get that lowm but it seriously shifts on tarmac never rolled mine, just spins even with 80mm rears.
