Choke question on FG MB?

Choke question on FG MB?
Is the choke on the FG Monster Beetle flipped up towards the fuel bulb when it is choked or is it down when it is choked? I just got the FG MB last night. Just asking. When i flip it down after it is running it kills the engine, so i figured it was choking itself out.
