Default Marder Crash

Crashed my marder last night after just putting it back together from hitting a tree last month. I even had my glasses on. Open field and i can find something to crash into. this time it was a 4 inch pipe. i think its going to be awhile before it gets fixed . Whats the best way to try and pound the chassis back down? Just pound on it or try and heat it up first?

Yeesh, pretty bad. Damaged the servos? I wouldn't trust the throttle/brake servo now. Damaged the a frames, or just went dead on with chassis? []

Bad crash myself also- pipe/header/throttle-brake servo

[shameless plug]

I'm selling a Marder chassis- also have front & rear bulkheads, I guess yours have sheared off threads.

Bad luck though.

As long as you dont see any cracking in the aluminum you should be able to take the chassis plate, lay it on a table with a block of wood over it and beat it back in shape with a hammer. Worse thing is you have to take everything apart just to get to that point.
That sucks!

I hope I never hit anything that hard...Still wished that FG had designed this chassis without that bend in it at the front. Hope you can get it fixed soon...

Do NOT heat it up, you will loose all strength in the material.

Besides the bending the plate it twisted also from what I saw on your pictures, that is worse. []
As it influences your car going left or right. However I saw similair plates and after bending them back they still are ok to continue driving with so do not give up yet!
Go and use the aggressive adrenalin you still have in ya for bending it back, you will need it.
Good luck and maybe Australis could give you some advice as he encountered the same prob a few weeks ago, there was a complete thread how he re-worked his bottom plate back again.

I hit a curb at about 15 - 20 mph head on with my Firehammer. I did not notice any chassis or suspension
damage. All of my fuel leaked out of the car. The gas tank had a nasty stress fracture centered on where
the "back" screw of the tank mounts to the chassis plate.

I replaced the tank and am up and running again.

Has anyone replaced a broken tank and fixed the setup of the tank to guard against this happening again?

I do aircraft sheet metal...you got one hell of a bend there I've bent my xtm's frame after hitting a pole but not as bad..I just worked it back into place over the edge of a table...don't ever heat aluminium to rebend it, you'll run it for sure...be sure to look for cracks also it seemed to be t3 on my xtm but I've read some companies are using T6 on them and at .250 T6 you maybe need a few neighbors to help flatten that back down.

During a recent browsing session I found this Reinforcement for the Marder at http://www.alu-tec.de

They also make some COOL 5mm F40 Alu alloy Marder frames.

Those 2 together should add up to a virtually unbendable front
And if it bends, It will do it elsewhere, and AUCH!! What a Crash
