Touring car shocks?

RE: Touring car shocks?
Well, I am really just trying to find a way to change up the stiff suspension. I thought that if the touring car shocks would fit, it might provide me with an alternative (softer) shock spring, thus allowing My Monster Beetle to ride a bit lower and help reduce roll-overs.
I do not jump much, and I want it to have greater suspension travel. I have already changed the shock oil to 40 in the front and 50 in the rear, removed the sway bar, and considered cutting the springs off shorter, in order to lower the center of gravity.
I'm still waiting for parts before I reassemble, so I have no idea yet, if the changes will make a difference, so I'm biding my time looking for alternative springs. [&:]

OK, i see. Yea i've heard of few people saying how the suspension is too stiff on the mb and mt.
I definately wouldnt cut the springs though. Although cutting the springs will lower the car it will also raise the spring rate which will make it much stiffer and it will bounce alot more.
Doesnt the MB have the allen screws near the front/rear suspension that allows you to lower it? The marder has these so i'm almost certain the mb should have them also. They wont change how stiff the ride is but will lower the ride height.

RE: Touring car shocks?
You can get a FG#8525. This is a set of 3 pairs of springs that cost about $34CAD. I use the red ones in the front with spacers and the yellow and blue in the back. Cut the blue ones in half and you have a pretty good setup, not to mention looks sweet too!!

I'm glad that I did not cut the springs, yet. [&:] I'm sure you are right drevil.
The grub screws are apparently not meant for changing the ride height of the Marder/MB/MT...that came up in another recent thread. It also seems to make the monster tires not ride flat on the ground. []
Thanks for the part # Selwa! I will definately see about getting some of those springs! Can you really tell a difference in the way the car handles with the new springs? Are they a good bit softer (shocks are easier to push together)? [8D] Thanks!

I haven't tried it with the Monster tires on mine yet. I'll be putting on the Elcon stuff this week. The colours indicate different tensions. The blue was the hardest so that's why I cut them. They fit nicely with where the yellow ones start too!!

RE: Touring car shocks?
Well if the grub screws arent for ride height then what are they for? The only use i can see for them is to limit the ride height. The reason they make the mt tires not ride flat on the ground is because the front suspension doesnt have a camber adjustment. Even a set of shorter or softer springs will do the same because the end result will be the same, the car will ride lower and the camber will be changed.
