Default STEERING ?

I burnt up my 5745 Hitec steering servo(big suprise)and ended up putting 2 tower hobbies giant scale servos in its place. The problem I'm having now is I don't have full range of steering in either direction. Its the same in each direction . It stops turning about a 1/4 in before the stops hits. The dual rate is at full turn and the end points are full on. The servos were cheap but they have alot of power so I thought I would give them a shot. Any ideas? Is there some adjustment I'm not figuring out to get full steering? Do some servos have a shorter range of motion? Both links from the servo horns to the servo saver are the same length.

longer servo horns, move the servo connecting rods in on the servo saver, move the steering rods closer in on the steering uprights
