Tuned Pipe vs. Can Exhaust...difference?

Tuned Pipe vs. Can Exhaust...difference?
OK, I bought an X-can to give me a boost in bottom-end power, but my new gear ratio (steel gear set) seems to have canceled that out (geared too high, now). []
The X-can doesn't really seem all that different from the standard FG exhaust, in design...it is just a square, empty chamber with two exhaust ports, instead of one (like the stock can). How is a tuned pipe different from a can exhaust? Is it the baffling that changes the power output?
Don't get me wrong...the sound difference with the X-can is awesome, and I really enjoyed creating my own dual exhaust pipe design, but I cannot really say much about the power difference since I also changed the gearing. I think that a tuned pipe with this gearing set-up, on the other hand, would give me a noticeable low-end torque increase as well as the top speed that I want. [&:]
I guess what I want to know is, what is the real difference between a tuned pipe and a can exhaust? [sm=confused.gif]

I would guess that you felt a little more torque right? A tuned pipe has an expansion chamber and it makes all the diference in the world on increasing RPM's (HP) You will for sure feel a boost with a tuned pipe.
