Default 1/4 cobra daytona

Here are a few pics of a new find. This is a 1/4 daytona coupe made by QRS. This was just about the last car produced by him. This is the prototype and they never went into production due to the high selling cost. I was really lucky that I was allowed to purchase this machine. It does have a full interior with seats but they have not been put back in yet. The rear is a skellenger and the wheels are Ricks RC wheels but the real special part is the chassis design and the AWESOME body. This body is the highest quality work of art I have ever seen in my life. The chassis is scale to the original car with front and rear leaf spring suspension. Look for this car and more details on my site in the QRS section in the coming weeks! Oh yea, the side pipes ARE functional!! Ohhhhh yea!

That is NICE!!!!!!!! My dream R/C is a 1/4 scale Conley Cobra with a 427 supercharged V-8. A Conley Cobra kit on ebay just sold for $8,500 +. If I ever hit the lottery that would be the first R/C I would buy. To have the skills/time/tooling to mill a fully functional 427 supercharged V-8 would be nice also. Love your collection!

Sorry cant share the cost but it was not cheap, but still a deal to me. It is a real collectors piece and to be honest is nicer then the conley cobra in my opinion when its done. The body wraps around to the chassis and is bolted on. It will also hold a conley engine in it. It was going to be one of the options. Now when I look at the other cars in my collection they just dont stand up to this car.

I'd hate to see that sliding across the concrete on it's lid so I am assuming "shelf queen"?

[&o]Yea, it wont ever be driven. To drive a car of this caliber is not right. If it were mass produced that would be one thing, but since its a one off prototype it makes it a big no no. Also QRS was owned by Jeff schmidt, he also started up Pacesetter and he was the first person to ever produce a 1/4 scale RC CAR. This car represents the last car produced by this master. For me to drive it and mess it up would be a dis-service to the history. Not to mention, since I am going to take such good care of it is one of the reasons I was able to get it. This car wont even be stored in the garage with the rest of the rif raf.

Yea, its the one in the article. That was a modeler magazine and they came out here to the US to cover the car. RC car action did an article too on it. The car is 100% to scale. Even the tube frame is scale size tubing.

Oh, man.... it looks even better than I remembered.
I'm still looking for that Car Action article, too. What in the quarterscale world could you ever score that would be better than this piece?

By the way, I think I have the honor of having owned the last quarter-scale funny car made by Jeff. Unfortunately, it was a real race car, so it gor raced... and repaired... and raced... and repaired.. and eventually wrecked. But it was a killer!

Try more like $11,500+ before the auction ended.

That is a truely beautiful car. I love how they set the motor in the engine bay, and the side pipes with minature headers are insane! The only thing i could think that would make this car better would be the conley engine option, but since it's such a collectors piece as is it should probably stay that way.
When you get time you have to post some close up pics of all the little details.

Yea, the conley would be sweet and may be in its future, we will see. But for now I am happy as can be. I will post pictures when the interior is done and I will post some pics of the suspension tonight. It is really cool the leaf spring setup. The car has wheel wells all the way around also.

That is sure one sweet machine there. Must be nice to own I'm sure you'll display it proudly as anyone would with such a fine car I'm looking forward to some more pics. You may need to build you a nice lighted display case for it with a mirrored bottom I almost forgot...the case should be motorized..after all a turntable for showing it off would be sweet.
