Default new to large scale fg

hi i have just bought a fg 1/5 scale its only a ecoline but that was my budget and will upgrade as and when ,its second hand but seems to be in good condition ,i need to buy a battery for the for it does this ave to be 6 volt or can you use 7.2 and what sort of amp hour should i need ,it is the mclaren gtr ecoline so could you kind ppl out there list the order of upgrades i should do ,this has no upgrades done to it ,thanx ppl

You need a 5 cell Sub C pack (6V) NIMH or NICAD, highest capacity that you can afford, with RX lead and another for charging (Tamiya, FG, Multiplex etc) If you use a 7.2v pack you'll damage the receiver.

thanx for the reply i was just curious as my electric 1/10 are 7.2 but the speed controller must drop the voltage to 6 volt,and my t maxx only has a 700 mah 6 volt which wont be big enough, i shall go in search

A lot of us use Nimh 3300mah Sub C packs. You can drive all day with these and the servos will still be going strong

I used regular Deans connectors on mine. But I have a lot of those around for my electrics

Cut off the tiny plug on the switch and solder on a male Deans plug, then solder on a female Deans plug to the pack. Easy to recharge and hook up to the car. Only one plug needed then.

I use united r/c 4200 mah pack in my hpi baja 5b
and can get 4 hours plus run time about 1200 mah per hour of bashing
