RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
I soak it in a jar of white spirits....dissolves everything - dirt, oil, grease etc....
Wring it out then wash it in hot water with sugar soap.....comes out as good as new.

Washing up liquid, rinse then dry. Re-oil with foam filter oil £8 a litre. I might have to use something else to clean the filter though, this oil is more of a sticky type (it does remove some of the oil-enough to wash away the dirt, but not all)

RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
My local cycle shop sold me K & N air filter cleaner. I spray this on my foam filter, squeeze it in (while wearing gloves or while the filter is in a plastic bag), let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse. It comes out perfectly clean. I then follow up with PJ1 spray filter oil. It is red in color and sticky. Because of the color it it is easy to see any spots missed. After spray I gently squeeze the filter to ensure the PJ1 is soaked into the whole foam filter.
Both products were very reasonable priced and will last for for many cleanings.
Works for me.

I just use gasoline to rinse mine out....dish soap works too but doesn't remove BelRay oil very well since it's water resistant...Ken's using K & N air filter cleaner is a good idea...I'm gonna try that one out.

RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
Foam filter and prefilter get tossed in the sink with dish liquid and let dry. Perfectly clean everytime.
Re-oil with 3n1 Heavy Duty electric motor bushing oil (blue and white bottle). Nice and sticky oil, really cheap. Works awesome.
Spray my prefilter with WD-40.

I use warm water, mild soap, let dry then a coat of filter oil.
Now that we have the RedNeck Pre-Filter on all our trucks, you dont even have to clean the stock filter, just the other pre-filter. Saves time!

In case you have not seen the RedNeck.

TGNman: Where do you get this prefilter. I have been looking at many threads inhere lately, but every one seems to be regarding some completely different filter or other combination from 3rd part manuf.
This is exactly what I have been wanting. Looks like the prefilter for my 1:8 buggy... just larger. I really like the no-hazzle with this kind of 2-stage filtering.

I really need to take a look at the posting rules for this forum, but for now I don’t want to post any direct links for my site or my dealers. I am working with a dealer now in the UK that should be stocking our parts soon as well as others inside and outside the US.
Your best bet is to ask your favorite parts dealer to become a dealer for our products by visiting our web site. (noted in my signature)
Best of luck to you.

Go to www.teamgonads.com. Look under rc parts. I have the pre filters on their way. The service was good and fast. I will buy from them again. I will let you guys know how they work when they get here.

RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
I use K&N filter cleaner because i have a K&N filter
but i tried it on the stock filter and it does a great job, you need to spray it with the cleaner, let it sit for an hour, then rinse it through cold water and let it dry naturally, then put it back on
Monstrous

Has anyone tried the Redneck prefilter on sand infested environments?
If so, how did it fare?

I know you want to hear from someone who is not the owner of the company, but..... its too new to have results yet. You will have to wait a week or two for some of them to get out.
But I can tell you that we run in sand all the time and the RedNeck works great. I will post a pic to show you how and what we run in.

Hey, I don't care if the company's owner pipes up - if he/she misbehaves and gives a comment that is untrue, he/she won't last too long in these boards anyhow
Thanks for the reply TGNMan Hope to see more products for 1/5 1/6 cars in your website in the near future.

RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
nice pic of the mt on the beach - but the sand wont do your model any good[] - wouldnt mind a pre filter for my k&n but wouldnt it effect peformance is your reducing the flow of air!!! i think it would be better getting filter that has pre filter included like the pit-stop tuning filter as there designed to be used together

Its not the beach, its a old river bed. So no salt....
The RedNeck filter works great in dirt and sand. I also have not noticed ANY decrease in performance.
I also like to glue pre-filters to my case and pull start. I will post some pictures.

RE: FG BigFoot - AIR FILTER CLEANING
Thats a great idea TGNman - I just wished someone actually makes a filter bracket (plastic frame) that can be screwed in on top of the pullstart grill with removable filters!
