Default Steering getting sluggish on my MT

My brother and both own FG MTS and were noticing our steering is getting sloppy. I am just wondering if our servo saver spring is wearing down from jumping so much. The servo is moving when the truck is at idle and i do notice the spring on the servo saver moving aswell but the wheels itself are hardly moving. I know at idle it would be difficult due to the weight of the truck but our steering is sloppy even while driving. Were running hitec HS 5745 steering servos.

Can we tighten up the spring a little more?

Thanks

I would guess that you need a new spring, and check up the linkage to make sure all is ok. Would recommend getting the alloy steering savior, but if you have no other problems beside the spring getting old, i would not bother about it, just change the spring and be on your way again

Edit: I don't think there is any good way of tighten up the spring, sorry. Good luck, and please post more of your great action photos [sm=thumbup.gif]

Thanks for the response automan. I do think the springs is getting weak. I only had my truck about a month. I might post some videos when i get my new video camera. By the way do you know how to remove the dents from the muffler?

are you using the metal or plastic servo horn? You may be missing some teeth on the horn.

for the pipe you can fill it compleatly with water, cork both ends, and stick it in the freezer.

check it every five minuets, because if you go to far you will crack the welds.

(also, put it in a shallow pan so if any water leaks your veggies won't taste like two-stroke)

Just tore down my mt noticed that the servo saver spring was bent allowing slop in the steering after bending it back in place it corrected the slop. Think it got bent when I hit something real hard.

Makes one think what would have happen without a servo savior

just remember, bending it back will have weakened it.

Ya, should buy a new one.[] Saw it after I starting putting it back together. Snapped the saver shaft at the bottom and never new it. I use laminate on the bottom of the chassis over all the fasteners to keep them from falling out so it held the bottom screw in place and just felt sloppy. As soon as I took it apart it fell apart.[:@]

Tell you it took quite a bit to get teh spring to return, don't think it will bend back too easy, but you are right once bent return will be inevitable but still think it will take a good hit.

It will work, but not as good as a new one would. But for time being it will work and keep your servos safe, while you are waiting for a new one to arrive. If later on got money for it, get the Elcon savior, that one is top notch [sm=thumbup.gif] Strong and will be a more direct feeling, i just love it.
