RE: 23cc CY Engine will not start
What is this so called Dave's store? When you mentioned shipping it, I assumed it might be an online store. If that's the case, and I hope it is, please reply with the web address because I fear I may need a new engine because my air filter screws seem to be fully tightened.

RE: 23cc CY Engine will not start
MrMikeG, it seems like you might be able to answer this question. I looked at the picture of the screw coming through the end of the carb and scraping against that piece of metal. Well I bought my firehammer used and when I read about the airfilter screws I checked them and they were tightened. I also checked the place where the screw comes through in your picture, the screw was popping out on mine too, but it looked like it didn't damage that silver piece of metal (sorry I don't know what it's called). However, my engine seems to run fine. I applied some more washers to those bolts and checked to make sure they weren't sticking out after I tightened them up again. After that I went to make sure it runs and it does. I'm wondering what you think I should do. Do you have any suggestions to determine if there was damage done to the seal or whatever? Thank you for your help.

Hey DBassMan,
If your CY engine is running fine and have washers on the air cleaner bolts to tighten everything up and keep the bolt ends away from the cylinder head then you are good to go. If my CY engine was still running I wouldn't have the Zenoah. I bought that engine form Dave's Discount Motors (DDM, davesmotors.com). I would highly recommend them if you need engines or engine parts.
Have fun with your buggy. Keep an eye on that rear differential casing. I would recommend buying the upgraded Duratrax aluminum differental case when it becomes available. It's about $50 and looks very solid. My stock Firehammer diff case broke on the left side (the bushing on the left came loose) and caused the bevel gears to get screwed up. I ordered an FG brand hardened diff to replace mine.
Here's the link to the diff case:

If it is still running good don't worry about it. If it become hard to start or doesn't have any power check the black carb manifold (isolator block) and make sure the engine side is flat and sealing good.

Since there was a discussion on spark plugs in the beginning of this thread I hope I can say I have 7 of these here in the RCU market.
Their the NGK CMR7H that comes in the CY23 Firehammer engines. And possibly the DTX and Carson buggys. Not sure.
Anyway I have priced them under that $12.99 the big guy gets.

Someone is selling the CMR7H for $12.99 per plug? Who's charging that outrageous of a price? They're making a killing on those.

Well I can beat that. How about $3
BTW, when you click on his plug, it totals $3.50 before shipping.

Good catch Dennis, to get the $3.19 price you need to buy the box. BTW, 4 to a box.
Of course if I'm going to ship overseas I'm going to buy more than 1!

RE: 23cc CY Engine will not start
Should be pretty straightforward but will take time if you are talking about the internal bevel gears inside the diff. I disassembled my diff after it was trashed and there is almost nothing inside the stock Firehammer diff. There are some spacers, the gears and a shaft between two of the gears that is support by the diff housing. You will need to regrease the bevel gears (automotive 'red' bearing grease was recommended to me for this). Once the diff internals are worked out only the diff ring gear needs to be mounted on the diff case which is easy (use blue thread lock on the screws).
After remounting the new diff into the rear end of the car you may have to adjust the gear mesh between the lay shaft gear and the diff ring gear. This is done by loosening the engine mount screws on the bottom of the car and physically moving the engine forward or backward to get the mesh good. It was recommended to me to replace the stock Firehammer motor mount screws with #8-32 flat head machine screws of about the same length (from Lowes or Home Depot). The tighter thread pattern will hold the screws better and keep them from backing out.
