Default Adjustable diff?

I want to install the adjustable diff on my mb. I know you have to raise the diff, but wouldn't you also have to raise the motor up so that rear brace is level, or am I not thinking clearly? Thanks

no just make you rear screw 10 mm longer and use washer for the spacer

I mounted the adjusted diff on 6mm risers, but I also had to jack up the rear of the engine mounts to get the gears to mesh correctly. Easy, but it wouldn´t have worked without raising the engine just a little bit.

I made my own risers from a plastic cutting board, works perfectly.

just use elcon diff mounts - they raise the diff by 6mm without the need for seperate diff risers

Well, I considered elcon mounts or fg risers, but they just cost too much when I could make my own in ten minutes for free. Besides, I didn´t want to wait for a packet to arrive either.

another thing you can do is if your handy with a dremel - cut a slot in the chassi to allow for the lsd diff houseing

I am actually considering milling a slot in my chassis even though I have risers. There is plenty of space under the main body of the diff but not under the higher part. It would feel better to have a slot under there just in case a stone tries to get under. But as it is stones get pushed to the side and clear under the diff anyway... so it´s no biggie. It´s most a matter of me being too lazy to unscrew everything from the chassis... I might dremel from underneath though but I dont know how pretty that would look in the end...

You do not have to do anything with the motor height. Just reset the mesh. I have done many of these mods and with the FG risers and any possible gearing mixture it will work. The only thing you might need is to lenghten the chassis slot a MM.

I used the FG riser block with the FG LST diff on my Firehammer and had no trouble meshing the gears with the stock motor mounts. I had already rasied my rear bulkheads before the diff change (thanks for the tip Sandy@Mozler) and made a small spacer block for the overhead triange bracket.

I reused the home-made overhead spacer with the new FG riser block. The overhead block is probably 2-3 mm taller than the bottom spacers but it doesn't seem to be an issue (yet )
