Default 1 ?

Are Large Scale RCs considered Large Scale not just from the size but the from the fuel being burned?
I ask because I was reading through a magazine and came across HPIs DM-1 PRO. Its a 1/7 scale NITRO On-Road RC, its pretty sweet looking to. This thing is HUGE, it measures 24" long has a wheel base of 15.25" with 4WD.

Just curious, any info would be appreciated

Thanks

I believe it is because of the size.

It's the size that makes it a "large scale" rather than the fuel used. For example, Capagnuchi sells a gasoline powered 1/8 scale which is not classified as a large scale. There are also a few electric large scales (CEC used to make a 1/4 scale electric stock car).

At RCUniverse, 1/6 scale or larger is considered large scale.
