Default I broke it already

I was really loving my first FG (marder) until it broke, only the second time I ran it. Anybody else breaking the dog bone cups? I'm looking at $120 for a ball drive replacement set from RC NUTS. Any advice or comments would be very welcome. Thanks

if ur braking cups easily, chances are they are binding up under a certain angle, so check that. you may need to adjust the ball joint on the lower arm to get the distance right. and the droop screws

otherwsie u'll break ur ball drives too.

RTR dose not mean ready to race! It always means ready to replace! Never assume when you buy a RTR that everything is built correct. Go back and read the manual and check everything again before running.

remove the shocks and lift the arms up. While this is done see if the dogbones are very tight. They should have a bit of play.

I believe there should be about 4mm of play if I remember correctly.... atleast for the ball-drives.

Thanks everybody for all your help and advice. I ordered ball drive set today from FG-HOPUPS.COM. Thanks BuggyZy99, you saved me about $50. As I said, this is my first FG and I'm on that learning curve thing, you know. I hope once new parts are installed, I don't discover more problems to learn from, at least untill I get to run it some more.

Yep, on the side that didn't break, I removed the shock, and the dog bone was binding in the diff cup, when the suspension was fully extended. I never thought to check something like that before running it. Other than the droop screws(?), how do i adjust the suspension travel? FGHOPUPS is having a hard time getting me new parts. I did get one reply from them saying they had a storm and power outage there in Washington, wich I know they did, so I guess I gotta cut 'em some slack. I was just hoping to play in the dirt while I'm off work for Xmas.

trolling is only visiting a forum/thread and posting things to purposely instigate controversy. much like certain individuals here, present company excepted. MAYBE!.
im to the point to take moderating tatics on this site its own form of Trolling. trolling does no good. for any website, or its membership. whether from a member OR A MODERATOR.

some people DO NOT DESERVE there Mod status around here and do more to harm RCU, than they could Ever INTEND to do.
i have to agree with sneff. and im sure he would agree, no ones really laughing.

Just letting all know that after canceling my order for ball drive set from fghopups, Mark refuses to give me a complete refund. He is charging me a re-stocking charge of $15 eventhough he never shipped the order. Is this a merchant you want to buy from?

I filed a complaint with paypal against fghopups and the ball drive set, hate to do it, but its on now. Amazing how a normally sold part miraculiously transforms into a "special order" part when he runs out of stock. I'll post the results. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it. Lets see how paypal rules

ball drive are the best to use in any fg/lauterbacher,and the reason you broke the cup is it was over extended,as said in a previous post check the adjustments of everything, especially the steering as you will burn a servo out in no time[8D]
great car to get started in largescale off road
