RE: King Motors Baja Review with pictures
Hi All,
I am from Mumbai, India.
And since i amnew to this hobbyI need some help. Ichose thisforumfor its experienced posts as well as wide coverage.
I was speculation on buying a HPIBaja 5b SS, which is costingme US$ 1500 and then i came across the Kingmotor's KSRC 001/002 which is costing me US$650.
So my questions are:
1)I am mostly convinced wit the Chinese Baja but considering that i am absolutly new to this hobby and this is going to be my first RC pls give suggestions.
2)If i am ordering from Kingmotors, do they give option in terms of changing/upgrading parts?
3) If i go for the chinese baja i will not be too constrained on the budged so please suggest hop-ups i should definately get?
4) Any other advice is most welcome, will be ordering in a couple of days.
Thanks you all..

Thanks for the offer!
I now have 2 metal gear servos from America which i ordered via ads on this site, and I have also got Kingmotors.cn to send me a replacement steering servo for free as they agree the service from OversizeRC in Australia has been awful.
I'm going through the Australian embassy to get the refunds I was promised but never got.
This is my opinion, based on facts that happened to me, but i would not use OversizeRC even if I lived up the road from them, let alone in another continent.
They are not the cheapest, as I originally was led to believe, their price promise is just hot air, they make the buyer pay import duty (many other firms pay a version of this for you) their after sales service is all promises and no actions, and they hide behind the email system hoping you will just go away.
I have been unlucky with my car, but now it's up and running again, I would still reccomend it. After a spot of tuning I learned from YouTube, the car is fast enough for me, and can leap 30 feet through the sky, 10 feet off of the ground, from the natural 5 foot ramp in my local park, and it bounces back gagging for more!
The body shell is pretty battered, but considering the size and weight of this buggy, that is not suprising!

If you've got the cash...then go for the HPI... but If you think that its way expensive, then settle for the KM Bajas. KM Bajas are the same as HPI .They tend to last long.... if you make it as shelf queen. But If you wanna have a hard ,Fun bashing.... you will have to replace some of its parts. The most likely for the Km Bajas were the pullstart, rear tires and foams, gear plate, rear upper plate. That same ways go with the HPI.There only difference is that KM are made from HPI plans... CLONES....as we say.But nevertheless, they still gives you tons of fun.AS for the engine. there pretty much the same.I go for thrice a week of hard bashing on my KM 23 cc with DOM pipe and it takes me about 6 months before I saw a little change of power. So I replace it with another KM 29 CC top end.For now....I have about 4 gals of Fuel on my 29 CC KM and it stills feels like a rocket.Just ,ake sure to put Pre filters on your air cleaners so engine wont eat dirt....KM will released its 5t on June 10, 2009. Maybe you would like to check it.good luck on your Choice.

the general consensus around here is... "steer clear".
Supposedly they have everything in stock... and this "engagerc" guy isn't even a licensed dealer of some of the products being sold.

Look at some of the Austrailan stores, they are reputable and have much better store policies and customer service. If you look at Puff/EngageRc's policies on his site, you will see very quickly in just the first few paragraphs that you are sticking your neck out to be jipped. His policies are "As Is" meaning no returns whatsoever. Oonce the RC box is opened, you are screwd. No returns, even if the RC has a factory defect.
Also, believe it or not, Puff (A.K.A. EngageRC) tends to jack up the prices; you can find many of the very same stuff in other stores for cheaper and with better customer service to add as well.
There is a member who has posted in this very same thread, his name is Benkies Bajas, he has the gorilla for his avatar. Ask him where he getes his stuff from, he can point you to the best places to buy from.

Thanks Jim.
You wouldnt happen to have any links for the stores you mentioned would you?
I did notice that about his policies too, thats why I figured Id see if anyone had any input. So far you guys have confirmed my feelings.
