tuning baja 5b

Default tuning baja 5b

have baja 5b with 29 cc motor and had walbro 813 carb on it. had no problem tuning it but the 813 broke so i put stock carb back on and cant get it tuned. it dies out or when i hit the gas it stays reved up to long and the comes back down and dies or just stay at too high of an idle. any help

sounds like you may have an air leak...did you use new gaskets when you swapped carbs?

I just had the same exact problem. I found a damaged o-ring on the low speed needle of my carb. You most likely have an air leak.

ya check the orings, gaskets in the replacment carb. also check the carb manifold. the stock plastic ones can warp/crack and cause a leak. you can get it idleing and spray wd 40 directly at the seams and stuff around the carb, see if the idle change, or if the motor stalls when your shooting the carb, keeping aware of where the spray is hitting the carb. i can point you toward a leak.

the base gasket between the gugg and lower end of motor had a blow out so that could be part of the prob. ill let you guys know when i change it. thanks for all the help

Sounds like you've found your problem. Cylinder gasket will definitely cause the problem you described. Easy fix.

The 29cc stroker is a pretty high compression engine. I ended up going copper to eliminate the same issue. Glad your fixxed !! Nothing worse than a broken / not working car.
