Looking good. I still do not have my 5B SS running as I am doing many up grades before I ever do. I hope to be done with phase one soon. I do recommend doing the front hub C clip up grade ASAP. The front and rear radio box pins are different. The front ones are smaller so they can fit through the frame and are held by the front brace. Hope this helps. I enjoy my build.

nope not long enough
nope not long enough
All so if you do not do the C clip mod on the front wheel hubs sooner or later your wheel will fall off.
http://www.asaad.com/eclip.htm
All so get a fail safe, kill switch as I have read of many that did not run one and they ever did HUNDREDS of dollars damage and luckily never hit any one. This type fail safe does MUCH more then a normal fail safe!!!!!!!!! Would not run my 5B SS with out one.

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
I sell nothing and do not make money trying to help others from wasting there money and making mistakes. I do do a lot of reading on many forum sites and learn from their problems as well as my experiences. If you run the stock C clips your wheels on the front will fall off sooner or later and a Pico kill switch is MUCH cheaper then what it would cost to fix a run away 21 plus pound RC buggy or keep the possibility of a law suite if it hits someone or personal property.

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
I have not run my 5B SS yet as I am fixing all the weak spots and doing many up grades. I have had it for all most 2 months but all most done with phase 1 and will be running it in the next couple of weeks as the last parts for phase one are on there way.
This is my first 1/5 scale but have been racing 1/8 scale and running nitor for about 10 years religiosity. I have played around with them off and on since around 1965 when I got my first one.
What radio are you going to use?

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
I am trying to get more in to racing 1/5 scale here in Georgia and there is a new track about 70 miles away that has 15 foot lanes and he is talking about trying to run some 1/5. But it is pretty radical for 1/5 but is great for 1/8.

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
Very nice looking kit coming together there!
Dont skimp, keep up the good work. Even though you investsed 20hrs into building, that will be worth it. When I built my first comp gasser kit, I did it in about 8hrs. Not too long, but not too fast either. But I goofed on a couple of areas where I wound up having to back track and redo it because I didnt look at the instructions thoroughly. (I was too excited in getting it up and running)
But seeing you SS kit coming together brings back that feeling of elation of the actual build process and the anticipation of wanting to get it together to run it!

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
Oh, absolutely! It is to the point now that I will buy the kit version anyday over the RTR. For one, I hate the stock electronics, (I have a race grade radio).
Also, I believe every RC fan should built at least one kit in their life. Kit building is part of the hobby and I hate how RTRs are beginning to ruin that.
At least HPI makes kits, like the Savage SS kits, and this beloved Baja 5B SS kit. I cant wait for the 5T to come in an SS kit too! (Too bad Traxxas, AE, and Losi do not sell any of their RCs as kits, at least none that I can think of)

RE: Baja 5B SS build!!!!
I know AE make buggy and truggy kits. I have not bought a RTR in years other then a couple of my Kyosho Mini-Z F1 as they do not come in kit form. To me starting out with a RTR just ends up costing you more money in the end. I only have around 35 RC vehicles as a couple years ago I sold some. [X(]
