Tilting lawnmowermotor on its side?
Hey.
I scored a free (my favourite price ) 2-stroke suzuki lawnmower motor, and am looking at flipping it up so the output shaft is horizontal.
As far as I can see it should be pretty easy as all I have to do is turn the carby 90 degrees right?
Which means I'm gonna have to make some sort of adaptor for it.
Just wondering if anyone's done something similar and could show me some pictures perhaps?
Any other tips regarding using different carbies also welcome, but preferably I'd wanna use the one that's on there already.
(As a few of you know I have no access to machining equipment, lathe or anything like that, and my welding skills are basic but improving. Steel welding only.)
Thanks
I've seen that buggy already but there's no close ups of how he did the carb on that one.

Hey, I joined because of you Your porject was a nice build.
Anyway Most people on other forums say not too due to oil not being able to get to the right parts of the engine.
BUT Someone has made a huge rc buggy with a mower engine on its side. I'll try and find the link for you. Not sure if its the same one you said at the end of your post. But we will find out. Lol

With a 2-stroke it will be ok.
Are you thinking of [link=http://www.fieroaddiction.com/buggy.html]this[/link] buggy?
Yeah my chainsaw car is still waiting for its wheels before it can be rebuilt.

Yeah like I said, with a 2-stroke it's ok as the oil is in the fuel.
4-strokers have a separate oil reservoir, just like on your car.
Anyways, I've decided to put [whatever I was gonna do with that mower motor] on hold for a bit.
I tend to have too many things on the go at once, and while I'm waiting for my wheels for the chainsaw car there are still other things I could sort out for that build.
So no more distractions for me at the moment.
Will probably have to get rid of that mower motor in the meantime, because if it's in the shed I keep looking at it and thinking about what I could do with it.
Argh.
Whereabouts in London do you live?
I lived there between 1997-2002 mainly around the South West.
Balham, Streatham area.

It was not for an RC project anyway.
Dosen't matter, I'm not gonna do anything with it at the moment.
