Default Built Me a Baja Rat Rod

ive been using my baja number 2 for a while now while "ole faithfull" baja number 1 was just sitting there being neglected
so i brought the ratrod body make by Jake and slightly modified it alittle and converted ole faithful into a beast

the main mod is routing the engines exhaust into the fake motors headers... and i made some "moon disk" wheel hubs out of Chai Latte Tin lids..... it turned out well i thought

heres a vid

enjoy

Cheers Fullas

the pipes are just copper pipe from the local hardware i just use a whole heap of 90 degree elbows and T sections and braze them all together

no there's no "tuned" pipe happening here per say lol but as you can see its not really effecting power to much.... not like a stock can anyway

you can sort of see how its set up here

I know I am several days late on this, but that is a very nice job you did on your 5B there.

I have to know, where did you get the functional side exhaust pipes?
Does that exhaust system have an expanding volume chamber to facilitate power promotion? etc

Maori, Thanks for sharing how you made the functional pipes, and that is nothing short of impressive!

Tuned pipe or not, I am thoroughly impressed that you fabricated that functional exhaust pipe rack. I wish I were proficient in welding to even braze together the parts that you did, otherwise, I would be trying my hand at something very similar too.

Well, I might actually try to see if I can make the functional side exhaust parts while still having a tuned pipe mounted to the engine. (You know, adding the brass or copper pipeworks out the stinger of the tuned pipe and extending it to the side exhaust pipe rack, but of course, I would create new problems that I will have to adjust for such as the additional back pressure created of the added pipeworks.)

thanks man... welding the copper pipe is easier than it sounds..... ya just heat up the pipe with a torch, i just used one of those butane handheld torches ya get from the hardware..
then melt the rod onto the join and it basically welds itself...its not "brazing" as such its more like soldering..... very simple... give it a go

i did start off using a Jetpro pipe but it got abit messy lol if you can keep the extended pipe work a larger diameter than the stinger then you wouldnt create too many problems

i guess its soldering but using copper rod not your typical solder... the hardware shop that sells the copper pipe will have the rod used to solder it....

im not savy on plumbing so i dont know what the correct terminology is LOL
