For vehicle with High horsepower to weight ratio (normally Nitros IMO) in buggie or onroad applications. The on/off style control of throttle is for high revving (fast rev to) engines in light weight chassis.

I cant think of many 1/5th scale with that type of insane power to weight ratio
I tried looking for some race ported/upgraded gas engine onroad 1/5th scale but its rare since you can't compete in any race with those mods.

RE: What type of race would you use a 813 carb?
Any type of racing whether it is onroad or offroad is going to require you to be on the throttle and then off when you go into the turns. The 813 according to what I have read does not like on & off throttle so what type of racing would it be good for??

I don't find that true at all. I have a 813 on one of my rampages with a 28.5 kit and dom pipe and it works great off the bottom and pulls awesome... on /off throttle no problems, pulls great out of tighter turns and hard on accel from a stop. actually it seems to have eliminated a slight lag / hesitation off the bottom. starts and tunes just fine also. just my opinion but better than the stock carb on my other rampage.

stock settings for now, 3 break in tanks completed... one full tank at largescalerc's track running her hard and it ran great, could use just a slight leaning out on the top end but thought i'd leave it safe for a little while. next time I run it she get a little tune on the top end and thats it.

I've been a staunch advocate of the 813 and have used them now for sometime but only got 3 gallons out of the last one before it started flooding out...I've gone back to a 668B on my OBR 27.2 full mod on my nutech MT and actually prefer it...

I am succesfully running the 813's on a onb 4 bolt 27.2/ONB ported 28.5/ and a stock 26cc. I haven't had any issues with them. Yet. LOL

never had a 771 so can't comment. I've gone thru 4 or 5 813's now and the one on my rampig is on it's way out tool...don't get me wrong i love the carbs but in the conditions I run in here they don't seem to last long despite siliconing up the plunger hole at the gasket, they get worn at the shaft and the plungers also wear out and then they just flood.
hardly noticed a difference on my obr full mod in the nutech, actually prefer it as with a couple of other dial ins it now hooks up instead of just boiling the front tires.
