If you want to dip your toe in the DLG space:
$130 including one servo
http://www.hobbyclub.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1123
$80 ARFhttp://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html
Figure $7-$20 per servo, $10 to $20 for a battery. Then you pick your micro receiver and you are all set. Real easy to get into a starter DLG for under $200.
If you want to see a wider range, lots of DLGs here, several under $300:

I have two DLGs. A Polecat XP5, no longer made. This is a bagged wing DLG. And a Kennedy Composites Blaster 2 which is a hollow molded wing. I used to fly them in competition but not any more.

Yep, it didn't take much more than a bit of reading, a bit of study, and a few videos; DLG looks like a LOT of fun! Thank-you! Now if I can just come up with $$ for the Armsoar Aerial.

Decision Time
With respect to a thermal ship ('cause you guys almost got me sidetracked into DLG already), I'd been looking for a good, light wind,

The Art Hobby Odyssey 2.7M RES should be a wonderful experience. Best of luck with it.
Please let us know how it goes. In fact, continuing this thread as a build thread would be wonderful. I would love to follow along.
If I read the Art Hobby site correctly, you could, at a later date, order the full house wing for the same fuse and have a convertible glider. Fly RES or full house. And there is an e-fuse too if you want to add that later. Now you have a pure glider, FH or RES and an e-glider, FH and RES. Not saying you have to do this, just that these Art Hobby planes are very flexible in their design.
Ain't life grand?

It could be a couple of months before I can get to it and finish it, but I'd like to have it flying in the Spring, so I'll take notes and pics as I go, and gladly post them here, hopefully along with my assesment of its flight characteristics.
