Default Esc

i'm new to electrics and i'm assembling a 3 meter fms fox glider,,,is the servo lead at the back of the esc get plugged into the throttle slot on the receiver? and does that same lead power the servos?....i have a 6cell 5000mah lipo 22.2 volt 35c battery with a predator 60 amp esc with ec5 connectors on both.....so do any of you experienced electric guys out here in powered glider land agree with my assumptions here?
thanks,
Richard

Yes that's the throttle lead and yes, it includes a BEC to power your radio and servos.

I'd highly advise removing the prop while you're setting up your radio, throttle cut etc until you're comfortable with the operation.

Does it require that large of a battery to balance correctly?

It really depends on the draw of the motor/prop combo. I'll see if I can find the review I did on that glider a while back, I usually do an amp draw test.

ok...the manual says i have a 4258-kv460....and it also says 22.2volt 5000mah 35c battery and 70A esc is recommended....but they installed a 60A esc in it...what they installed isn't what they say to use in the manual

My question was focused directly at the weight of a 6S 5000 battery. Two things here, on a glider you don’t want any excess weight, and if that excess weight makes your glider nose heavy it’s a double whammy to the performance. Also keep in mind that the higher the C rating of the battery, the more weight ( typically ). Rule of thumb for an electric glider, use the smallest battery that will get the job done.
