RE: How to make Spoilers for my Glider ?
I don't fly scale planes so I can only share what I know from what I fly. However there may be a tidbit of useful information here. Both of my spoiler planes are 2 meter sailplanes that have the type of spoilers that lay flat on the wing and then swing up. You may need to use the type of spoilers that rise up out of the wing. I don't know. Anyway, here is what I have.
The spoilers in my Spirit 2M are 3 bays by 1 1/4 inches operated by servos. Mine are operated by servos. I also have a Sagitta 600 2M with string operated spoilers
Frankly I found the strings easier to balance than the servos as both planes
have the spoilers on one channel. They both work just fine. Between the weight
on the spoiler lid in the Sagitta, and the servos in the Spirit I figure the
string method is similar in weight to the servos in the wings as those servos
are about 1/4 oz.
These links are to discussions on spoilers in the Spirit that you may find
useful.

First two shots are of my Spirit. The Second two are the Sagitta. I hope there is something here that will be helpful to you.

RE: How to make Spoilers for my Glider ?
On the marauder they use a bra hook (!!!) on both the spoiler and the wing as attachment points for small rubber bands. This is very light weight and pulls the spoiler back down quite nicely, I am told. The best way to keep the spoilers closed it to use a very small metal plate in the spoiler and a high power, very small magnet from radio shack. I use these types of magnets on my slot cars.
