I'm a beginner for that hobby. I have a hotliner which one is described below:
1-Omei 2000 ep: 75!QUOT! wing span, 480sq!QUOT! wing area, total weight is about 55oz.
2- Jeti phasor 45/3, jeti esc 40opto
3- Graupner 12/6 CAM prop
4- 12C 1350mAH NimH, 8C 2400mAH NiCad
That plane has first fly in weekend. But I doubt that it could fly well? Because I couldn't find a proper battery pack combination still. Its too heavy with these battery packs. Also there are no any suitable Li-Poly flight pack (2-3C 14-18V), at least I couldn't find.
I have some doubts (actually night-mare) about landing. It should be fly fast with that wing area and weight.
Thanks for your comments and supports...

OK, you've got a hotliner, which is supposed to go straight up under power. First, I'd find someone with a wattmeter and see what your current draw is with the 8 cell pack. You may need to go down in prop size to be able to use this pack.
As this is a hotliner, the weight will be greater than more typical sailplanes. I think you will fly OK at the weight you indicate, just don't expect to thermal well (if at all) [&o] .
Take the plane and do some hand launch glides (throw it straight out like a dart) and see what the flight characteristics are like. If you are a true novice, get with an experienced pilot to try this.
I don't know how you got this combination as a beginner. You may want to put it aside and get a lower wing loading sailplane to learn on and keep this one for the future [
