Shk from Aeronaut
Hello there
I have recently bought the new revised SHK 4m kit from Aeronaut and am very impressed it and has only recently appeared here on the European market. Anybody looking to build a scale glider that is not seen to often should have a look at this one. The quality is outstanding and the attention to detail on the plans and instructions is excellent. It has an all flying V tail with a great system for a solid and play free linkage. The models strongpoint is thermal flying and staying up in weak lift. Take a look on the Aeronaut homepage.

Did you also consider the SHK from Michael Moller of Dortmund? His kits are also of exceptional quality. I have been flying his 1:3.5 scale Discus2 & it is excellent.
It is intersting to hear that the SHK is well suited to thermal flying because I had been considering the Moller version for slope aerobatics.

Hallo Jubb
I had looked at various manufactuters and decided to go to the Expo in Stuttgart to see some of the models for real. Aeronaut had an example hanging up in their display area and I got to have a good look at it. In my research in the internet I discovered that Aeronaut and Uwe Gewalt are in the same town and that Gewalt http://www.gewalt-grossegler.de/aktion/index.htm also has the shk on his website, which makes it look as if he has had something to do with the production and if that is the case the quality aught to be as good as any other German manufacturer. The fuselage, in my opinion, needs to be reinforced in one or two places, but that seems to be the case with most models these days, otherwise the kit is good and building has been a pleasure.
I would not consider any wild aerobatics with it, since it is very scale and the original had 17m span. The model has 4m and a 1,55m fuselage, a 12mm wingjoiner and a S 4233 Profile which, as you can see here, is a thermic profile.

Hello Daniel
Thanks for the advice. I will probably pass on the Aeronaut version. I do not intend to fly wild aerobatics, but sometimes it happens. The MTM profile is a thickened version of RG15 http://www.modell-technik-moeller.de/SHK/shk.html.
