Default Returning to sailplanes

It's been about 13 or 14 years when I was last into gliders/sailplanes and since then I've gotten into RC planes but I always longed to return to gliding. So now I finally decided to get back into the hobby but I'm not sure which model to purchase.

Here's what I'm looking for:
* ARF
* 1.5 or 2.0 meter wingspan
* electric powered (I never want to go back to high starts again)
* no dihedral - good all around performer - thermals, aerobatics, you name it

Googling I found a couple of sailplanes that meet my criteria - the Highlander and the Ion Warmliner both from Hobby-Lobby. Anyone have any input they'd like to give on these two kits?

I'd also like to hear other recommendations on other kits as well.

I was planning to use my Futaba 6XAS which can do flapperons but I noticed some sailplanes use spoilerons instead - can flapperons go up to act as spoilerons?

Thanks.

Yeah, the same mix with the values reversed will usually work for spoilerons/flaperons. You might want to checkout some of the ArtHobby electrics, which fly great. I'm building a Universal rght now, having seen a friends of mine fly amazingly well, both as a sloper and a pure electric. At 60" it fits in the trunk of most cars assembled, and the wing comes off so it can be stored easily. It thermals great- my friend Bruces will core thermals that will barely suppert other planes. Anyway, something to look at. And dont ignore the slope scene just down the road from you in the Bay Area, as well over the hill in Reno. Lots of great slope action in the Sierras that nobody is even aware of. Did you know a guy went 300+ mph last summer up at castle Ridge in Boreal?

Try Espirit dot com too, they have some really nice sailplanes, hotliners, electrics. I got an Elipsoid II from them, (110") and am having a blast flying something that is relaxing. Wish I had gotten the 3200 XL tho, same wing, just less loading. I did a review on the model on this site, look it up under Reichard Modelsports or Elipsoid, I think.

I have tried to link this before, but lets try again
http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...fm?kit_id=2960

The price is right on this model. It will go vertical with the setup I have, which is the low side of recommended. By going with a TP 2100 LiPo, I am 11 oz under the suggested flying weight.

Is there a U.S. company that sells that Elipsoid or any of the Reichard models?

The Reichard site doesn't seem to list prices and the one retailer that I found with Google didn't seem to either.

A little more detail would help a lot.'
Oh wait, I just found the "street price" in your review. It looks ok for $200. So where did you buy yours?

Well, let me try again, the admin wipes out the posts with that information.

www DOT espiritmodel DOT com

Maybe that way it will stay, man they have a great selection of many electrics.

Now I think we know why not to enter that espiritmodel addy. Full of popups and other trap windows. And it's just a link to a shopping comparison outlet. Highly recomend not going to it.
