Can someone tell me the proper technique for attaching the music wire connetors to the carbon control rods in a discus launch sailplane? I heard about using shrink wrap and CA. Is it really that simple? THX

Hi Et,
You can use just CA and shrink tubing, but I prefer to actually wrap the joint for a 1/2"or so with fine thread, then CA the thread (overlap the carbon rod and the music wire end). This makes for a bulletproof connection ( you'll sooner break the carbon than have the joint fail.) Just be sure to roughen the two areas of the joint with something like fine sandpaper, then CLEAN well with acetone. You can put the shrink tube on top of the thread if you want a cleaner look, but I usually don't want to add the weight, especially in the tail.
What glider are you building? The Polecataero site has a good build manual for the XP-4, but the info applies to any pushrod install.
Hope this helps!
