Any helicopter radio.

Whats your budget? Do you plan on sticking with the hobby? If yes, then shelf the Nexus because its difficult to get parts for if you ding it.

IMO, the top 3 are Futaba, JR and Spectrum. Any one has a variety of models, can be bought at various online outlets or LHS and it all comes down to your budget as Barracuda mentioned. Many start off with a 6 or 7 channel so they can be used for heli's or/and planes.

If I were to buy a brand new radio today...it would have to be the new Spektrum DX18.

For the difference in price between the 8 and the 18...one would be hard pressed not to go with the 18.  I mean, it literally would be the last TX that I would ever need.

Dont take my post as to intend that Spektrum is the best on the market.  Its just it was what I started with and now I have about 18 or so recievers, so it would be too cost prohibitive to switch brands now...plus, Ive been happy with my DX7 the past 3 years.

But if you dont already have a bunch of recievers...you will do well with any of the top 3 brands, for sure!
