Heli-Max Axe CP 2.4, Rotor slaps tail boom
I am getting better at hovering 6 inches or so off the ground but here is my issue:
I seem to be doing fine and every once in a while I go to set the heli down and the main rotor slaps the tail boom and ka-boom! A flurry of parts and a rebuild to some degree.
Steps taken: Drilled a center screw into the main frame to secure the tailboom from twisting. Drilled and screwed the boom struts into the tail boom.
I cant figure out why I keep slapping the boom. Am I too aggressive on touchdown? Oh, I use training gear (rods and balls) too.
(ps, using realflight 6.5 as a trainer)

It could be several things that need adjusting or wrong. How tight are your blades? If they are to loose they could flop down when you land and, as stated, you could be landing to hard also. If you tilt and hold your heli to the side, does your blades stay in place or do they flop towards the floor? If you grab both blade grips with both hands on either side of the head, are you able to rock the spindle shaft up and down? You might have bad dampeners.

They dont seem loose. I ordered the bell-hiller head conversion in hopes that it may improve things. Every time the heli decides to self destruct its only a buck or two in parts but a two week wait, ugh!
