I have the Century Piezo gyro for my Bell 222. I haven't used it yet because I've been practicing on my Hawk Sport this summer, now its time to get back to building/painting my Bell 222. Anyway, in my Hawk sport I have the GY 401 with digital servo combo and it works just fine. Most everyone in this forum will recommend that combo. Fairly easy to set up & works great. I only hope my Century Piezo, will be as easy to set up & work as good. Hopefully someone with that type will let you/us know how it works. In any case the GY 401 is a good sturdy gyro.

Here's "one" web site that has the combo, not a bad price. Its the GY 401 with the digital servo:

Hello dustoff,
I will purchase almost the same items that you have =) except i will get the hawk sport for learning and then the airwolf kit =) yeah, the only problem now is the gyro price..kinda pricey =(...by the way how long did you practice on the realflight before going live =)...

Hi jetfght,
The Airwolf is very close to the Bell 222, (got mine from Century too). So whenever you get around to that I might be able to help you out. Actually for the gyro & servo its not a bad price. You can also just buy a regular servo. I've read those work fine with the GY 401 as long as your not doing wild 3D stuff. You can also search for the combo on ebay and other heli & rc online stores. Thats the first one I found. Anyway, like I said its highly recommended on this forum, and its a good sturdy gyro. The Century gyro may be just fine. I hope so I have one
but I just haven't tried to set it up yet & use it. I'll probably be doing that in a week or two because I have to fit everything in the fuselage b4 I start painting. Hopefully someone who has a Century gyro will chime in with their experience with it. I Know, I know, you want to buy now
We all know the feeling

Yeah..hahahh...i need to buy now..as a matter of fact i'll be placing an order tomorrow..for the 222...did you buy the bell w/ mechanics or just the fuselage...because i'm planning to get the airwolf fuse w/ mechanics later..so tomorrow..i'll be buying the hawk w/ engine, and i currently have the futaba 8u aircraft radio that i'm going to use on...My main flying will be more for scale like the airwolf and bell 222 not in 3D at least not for now....

jetfght,
Those two gyros you listed are both piezo and as far as I can see they are rate gyros, not heading hold. For only $20 more you could get the Futaba GY240 which uses a much more reliable sensor than piezo and it has great heading hold. I wouldn't limit yourself for the sake of $20!!

I bought the Bell 222 with the mechanics. It came with Hawk III Mechanics. Do a search for the Gy 401 in RCU, you'll read good things about it. Its the only gyro I used, so its the only one I can recommend. Maybe no one uses the Century gyros [&o]
