RE: Batteries for Raptor
Hi, I'm using on my raptor servo futaba 9202, battery pack 4,8v 1000 mAh NiCa flat. This set is enough to fly 6 times. Fly duration 20 minutes each.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Not sure, but i have heard you can't use 6V with some equipment (gyros?). Might be a good idea to post what servos, gyro...
Ive been using plain 1100 mah Nicads, Hitech 625MG's, Gy401 gyro with standard analog servos on tail and throttle. lasts all morning and then some.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Raptor 50 v2, GY401 w/ 9253 & 9252 digi's all around, and I run a flat 4 cell (4.8V) 2700 NiMh. Gets me 5 comfortable flights (running all digitals sucks some juice). I could get 6 or 7, but I don't push it.[X(]
I just plug it in to the charger and go fly a plank. Planes are good for something...they bide the time while the heli is charging.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Thanks to all for the answers.
I am using; CSM 400 heading lock adj. gain gyro, all servo's are futaba 3004 except the tail rotor has a high speed futaba 9402. My gyro voltage limit from 2.5V to 7.4, so I guess I can go with 6V battery? Why you guys do not like the 6V, it getting more torque and the speed w/ same weight?

RE: Batteries for Raptor
I use 4.8v because it's what the servo instructions said (4.8v only).........
I do use 6v in my planes with the analog servos, though. The digital servos (futaba 9252's) are surprisingly crisp and fast with just the 4.8v.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
I get 3, 20 minute flights out of a JR 1400mah pack. I use a meter to check voltage and would not fly after 3 flights unless I recharge.
I am using 4 JR 811's and a Futaba 9253 on the GY401 tail rotor in a Raptor 30 V1.
Be careful if you are flying 6, 20 minute flights on a 1000mah pack !!!!!!

RE: Batteries for Raptor
While we are talking batteries,I just bought a Raptor v2 and i asked the guy in the model shop for a decent battery
for it,he gave me a 4.8v 2400ma nicad, now the battery i use on my nexus is a what looks like a set of four AA type batteries, the
battery he gave me for my raptor looks like four C cells(the next size up from the AA size) Reckon i'me going to need a twin rotor heli
to get this sort of weight off the ground!
Sorry to butt in on this post but are these batteries going to fit in my raptor?

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Hi T T Rapper,
My flying buddy flies a Raptor 50 and uses the 4 "Sub-C" size pack, I think it is 2400mah also. The Rappy doesn't even know the weight is there. I may be wrong, but I don't think your Rappy 30 will notice the weight either.
Someone correct me if I am incorrect.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
I don't think the power is going to be a problem, but be sure and check your CG. The 50 has the longer tail which compensates for the additional weight up front. I don't know how this will be in the 30, but check it before flying. If it is too nose heavy, the tail servo can go on the boom.

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Thanks for the help guys!
I know my gyro is only small but i was thinking of putting it on the back behind the rotor head(think it says this in the manual)
to keep the weight off the front, where do you guys put your gyros, does it make a difference? On my Nexus i put it up front with the batteries and Rx,and i did'nt have any problems, but then i did'nt try it behind the mast,so i could'nt tell if it made any difference!
Cheers!

RE: Batteries for Raptor
Thanks for all answers. I just bought 2400 SubC batteries as well. Guys who flies helis recommend it to me. Its defiantly looks too big for the heli, but I hope I will have enough fly time before I need to recharge. I still have one question; Where the CG should be on my Raptor v1 30?

RE: Batteries for Raptor
As far as I know, the CG on most helis should be at the shaft. turn the flybar perpendicular to the heli, and then pick it up at the roots of the flybar.... the heli should stay horizontal (balanced).
