Default Difference between 3D heli, normal & Sport

I recently purchased the Great Planes Real Flight trainer G2 to learn how to fly a RC helicopter & air plane. I have tried every helicopter & airplane supplied with the program. Two models of helicopter have a 3D option. I’ve flown both & can’t figure out what the difference is between them. What is the difference between a normal helicopter & a 3D helicopter?

Default RE: Difference between 3D heli, normal & Sport

Normal and 3D have different throttle/pitch programming on the collective stick. In normal mode, the minimum throttle position is at the bottom of the stick, closest to you, and maximum throttle and pitch is at the top of the stick, away from you. In 3D mode, there is as much positive pitch at the top of the stick as there is negative pitch at the bottom. Minimum throttle is at mid stick, and maximum throttle is at both ends of the stick. This allows you to apply throttle with negative pitch to maintain lift with the heli upside down. In normal mode, an upside down heli would quickly crash no matter what you did to the collective.
