New Helicopter and questions
My wife just ordered me a Hummingbird V.2. I have not ever flown a helicopter (besides fms and a keyboard) so I am planning on breaking some things. I have many extra speed controllers left over from my rc airplanes that have it the pavement too many times, and I believe I would like to do a "seperates" (?) setup.
1. My 6 channel transmitter does not do revo mixing. Can I get a heading hold Gyro, a piccelo kit (or something similar) and use my speed controllers?
2. Any advice for a newbie who can't run RealFlight or other simulators?
Thanks!

RE: New Helicopter and questions
Hi seancorder
Go Separate:
U either use Revo Mix or Heading Hold Gyro. Futaba GY240 is one of them.
Speed Controller => Any speed controller will do so long as it is light and can supply enough current for motor.

RE: New Helicopter and questions
You said you can't run Realflight. Is this because of slow computer or other reason? I have a Celeron 466 with a somewhat lame video card so RF is out of the question. I use FMS and Dave Brown RCFS 2001, both of which do a decent job of teaching the basics. If you have a trainer system in your 6 channel TX you can order a joystick or USB adapter which will make your TX function as a joystick and thus will work with most sims that use a joystick. I believe there is a link on the FMS page.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Wine will not. VMWare just can't handle the rendering. I just wish there was a simulator like FMS for linux....That would be nice!
I don't think I saw a trainer kit for the hummingbird, any suggestions on making one myself? Or, my LHS has an aerohawk training kit that has 3 sticks with balls on the end. Will that work?

RE: New Helicopter and questions
Hi
My friend is having problem running FMS in Windows (Older version has ATi Radeon compatibility problem) so he use VMware with Win2k as the guest. He has no problem with it.
Training Gear... Not necessary u must find Hummingbird type. Dragonfly also can. BTW... based on some of us... training gear is not a must.
