Default antenna

i got a whip antenna about 6'' long it say's to cut my rx antenna to 4 inches and make my connection.Is this ok and if so where should it be mounted it's for a raptor50 and 9chp pcm thanks skip

Please use the full length antenna that comes stock on your reciever. Find some clear stiff tubing to support the stock wire antenna and route it along the bottom of your machine.

Because antennas are tuned for both receivers and transmitters. An inductive/coiled whip antenna is inferior in its sensitivity when compared to a straight wire antenna.

I will agree with "inferior." To me it is an acceptable amount of inferiority for the convenience. Your mileage may vary.

I have flown whips and wire antennas extensively and the whip is ok for hover and close in flying but make me nervious when flying way out like setting up foe FAI stuff etc. I once put a whip ( Deans I think ) in a all wood airplane and was suprised at lack of range. Since that day I always use the full length wire.

don't use the whip, I don't know much about heli's but I fly planes and I agree with Homebrewer
