Default Beginner needing help

So my wife got me the hummingbird from helihobby.com, and I got everything setup and working. All evening I kept fighting a spin (from the tail rotor) and barely got off the ground. I did, however, successfully slide all over the kitchen floor.
This morning, I got the Gyro on correctly, which eliminated some of the spinning. However, just when it is about to get light on the skids, it slides to the left...always. Full over right does not help, until you give enough throttle to life a few inches, and then it goes hard over right, like it should.
Is this just a normal thing that newbie's have to deal with? Or is there some way to get it to stop pulling to the left?

Thanks
Sean Corder

i don't have a humming bird, but i do have a thought that might help. In normal hover, the heli leans slightly to the right to fight the force from the tail rotor. one way to make the take offs easier is to bend the landing gear slightly so it leans a littel to the right.

Helis are tough to learn to fly, hang in there

So can this "lean" mis-lead me into countering the movement? Left motion aside, I did notice a lean to the right, maybe I corrected it and did not need to?

Sounds like it needs to be unfixed.

helis are weird beasts, but a heck of a lot of fun.
