Default hovering from the side?

I've had to put my first heli purchase on hold for a few months since I'm about to move into a new house, but I've been practicing on G2 in the meantime. Back in the fall I spent a lot of sim time learning to hover and do forward flight. I got caught up in other things, and have come back to the sim lately. I hadn't really lost anything other than fine hovering control. Here's my problem. Tail in, nose in, and 45* oblique tail in or out are natural to me now, and I immediately give the right input to stop drfit or move the heli how I want. Same with looking directly at the left sid of the heli. But when I try to hover looking at the right side, I can barely control the dang thing. I have to actively THINK about what input to give.[] I'm sure, with practice, I'll get past it. Anyone else have similar experience when learning? I dunno, I just thought it seemed odd that nose-in is second nature, but one specific lateral orientation should give me so much trouble.

Default RE: hovering from the side?

in a word yes! i can hover left side and right side, but i'm much better at nose right than nose left. i don't know why.maybe it's because with nose left the heli is leaning away from me and i think it's going to tip over.the other thing is that i can't hover nose in at all.the other week i met a chap who could hover tail in and nose in, but could not hover from either the left or right side. it may help you to fly your bad side whilst the heli is moving away from you,and you simply walk after it and slow it up as and when.for example,my bad side is nose left,so i hover it like this then apply right aieleron so that the heli moves away from me and i walk after it round the field.i find it much easier to control like this and when i slow it up to hover it motionless,i find i don't have as much of a problem than if i hadn't walked it around the field, try it.don't forget if you are using a sim then with fms you can set the camera to follow the heli as it moves around the field, don't know about other sims though
