I am starting to understand every thing there is to know about R/C Heli's, but crystals is still something I am not familiar with.
What are they ?
From what I know, thay are little pieces you have to put in your transmitter or reciever so that you are on the right channel or something. Is this about correct ?
Would I still need one if I buy the JR8103 with R700 FM receiver ?
any help would be greatly apreciated.

From: McCool, MS,
Crystals put the receiver and radio on the exact same frequency. Radios and receivers are made for say a 72mhz band. you can then add say a channel 24 crystal and that makes them both on 72.27 mhz. Both parts have to have matching frequency crystal in them to work. In J.R. the receiver crystal is grey and transmitter is black. About 1/2 inch square and 3/4 inch long (just an estimate). They are required in all radios. If you buy a new 8103 radio they will have matching crystals in them.

I brought a 9Ch transmitter and receiver out of the USA (I live in New Zealand) and it had a cyrstal in it that was not legal in New Zealand (72.350or similar I think) so I changed the crystal. I brought a 72.110 which is legal over here and put it in and it seems to work ok. Is this all I need to do and will it work ok. I have done a range test and flown the heli and everything is fine but some people have told me it might need to be retuned. Is this nessacery in the 9C range or not. Dont they just come with low or high range modules and you just change the crystal to suit or is there limitations of what amount of frequency range you can play with. Do the recivers accept ANY range of cyrstals or are they limited to anything????
