Hi,
I have the above engine and when I set it to the manufacturing settings I can never start the darn thing.
However if I make both needles more rich it starts but it usually about .5 of a turn to get this happening.
Im having a nitemare tuning this thing in, can anyone give me some tips on the needles?
thanks

First recommendation, throw the MDS away and buy an O.S. .32. Your problems will be over. MDS engines can be a real nightmare, and most of it stems from their carb design and the way it seals to the crankcase. Don't be surprised if when you finally get it tuned in it suddenly dies right at liftoff speed. Do yourself a favor and get an O.S. Max. You'll never have another problem.

I'd have to agree. I've never run a MDS heli engine but I did have a MDS airplane engine, it was a total piece of crap! My LHS finally stopped selling the MDS line (also K&B and Fox) because they had too many complaints. As tmpowers said, buy an OS and your problems will go away. I have a TT 36 on one of my heli's and I might buy another TT if looking for a larger engine. But for a 30 size machine, the TT engine isn't that much cheaper than the OS. It's not worth the headaches.

Hi guys,
thanks for the advise, I didn't realise these were so bad, I actually got this engine with my heli kit (Nexus 30).
I did have it in the air a few times but Ive never been able to get the thing off the ground any more times.
Ill check out the prices and see if my budget can stretch this month
thanks again

Most Definitely Sucks
the stock settings should be on the rich side. try the stock ones with a fresh glow plug and make sure its primed well.
p.s how new is the engine? if its brand new I would mount it on a test stand with an airplane prop and put some fuel through it to brake it in and get the needles close. MDS's are true ABC engines that take forever to brake in and are very erratic before they are broken in.
